Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to cooperate with any Hungarian leader who is not an ally of Putin. He also stressed that there was no negativity or disrespect for the Hungarian people on the part of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy's statement on cooperation with Hungary
Speaking to journalists, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was ready to work with any Hungarian leader who would not be an ally of the Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin. According to him, Ukraine is open to friendly cooperation with the leadership of a neighbouring country if it does not support the aggressor state.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine does not spread negativity or hatred towards the people of Hungary or national minorities who are citizens of Ukraine. He noted that this distinguishes Ukraine's position from the actions of the current Hungarian government.
Context of relations between Ukraine and Hungary
The President noted that the current Hungarian government is spreading anti-Ukrainian sentiment among Hungarian society. Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is ready to work with any person in Hungary who wants to live in peace and not block Ukraine's geopolitical choice.
He also added that he could not predict how relations would change in the event of a change of leadership in Hungary, but stressed his willingness to cooperate, provided that the country's leader is not an ally of Putin.
Details on the latest developments
