Operation Horizon launches in Poland - 10,000 troops will be deployed to protect critical infrastructure
Poland announces a large-scale operation «Horizont», within which 10 thousand military personnel will be involved in the protection of critical infrastructure across the country. We are talking primarily about railways, energy facilities, airports, communication hubs and other strategic locations.
The operation will be coordinated by the Polish Armed Forces and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Mobilisation of citizens
The Chief of the Polish General Staff said that civilians would also be involved in the operation. For this purpose, citizens will be given access to a special mobile phone of the notification app about suspicious activities.
According to him, the app will be able to send them:
geolocation,
photos,
brief description of the incident,
so that operational services can respond quickly.
The purpose of the operation
Poland is tightening its security regime amid growing risks of sabotage and subversion that have been reported near strategic facilities in recent months.
«One of our goals will be to engage citizens in more closely monitoring their surroundings and reporting situations that may have signs of sabotage or subversion,» the Chief of the General Staff said.
