Poland to inspect 120 km of railway to the border with Ukraine

Poland launches large-scale security check on over 120 kilometres of railway infrastructure, leading to the Ukrainian border. According to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, The explosion, which took place on one of the railway tracks, «was most likely intended to blow up a train travelling along the route».

According to him, the government considers the incident to be a deliberate sabotage that threatens passenger traffic and strategic cargo travelling to Ukraine.

Who is behind the sabotage

The head of the Centre for Countering Disinformation emphasised that the attack was carried out by military unit 29155 of the Main General Staff of the Russian Federation - a unit that regularly conducts special operations and sabotage in Europe.

The official noted that arson and sabotage in Germany, Poland and other countries is «the work of the Russian special services disguised as various kinds of accidental situations».

Context.

The 29155th military unit of the Russian General Staff has been repeatedly linked to sabotage of critical infrastructure in Europe. Against the backdrop of Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, EU countries are stepping up counterintelligence and the protection of strategic supply routes.
