Kyiv officially suspends peace talks with Russia

Peace talks between Ukraine and Russia officially suspended due to the lack of any progress, Deputy Foreign Minister said. Sergey Kislitsa.

«The process is now effectively stopped. Since the summer, all Ukraine's efforts have been aimed at activating international partners to encourage the Russian dictator to have a real meeting with President Zelensky,» Kyslytsia said.

Reasons for the termination of the dialogue

According to the diplomat, Kyiv does not see Moscow's readiness for constructive action and cannot accept ultimatums that are contrary to Ukraine's interests.
Kislitsa emphasised that Ukraine continues to work on a global coalition to support Zelenskyy's “peace formula”, involving the EU, the US and countries of the Global South.

«We cannot talk about peace when Russia attacks our cities every day. Negotiations without content are meaningless,» he added.

Context.

Earlier it was reported that Another round of consultations mediated by Turkey and China did not yield any results. Moscow insisted on recognising the “new territorial realities”, which Kyiv categorically rejects.

Ukraine, on the other hand, insists that Any peaceful settlement is possible only if Russian troops are completely withdrawn і regaining control over the entire territory.

Experts believe that Kyslytsia's statement puts an end to the current stage of negotiations and confirms a change in Kyiv's diplomatic strategy - from passive contacts to active international pressure on moscow.
