Putin on sanctions and dialogue with the West

President of Russia Vladimir Putin during his speech said that the planned Budapest summit postponed. He also commented on the new one, 19th package of sanctions, imposed by the United States against the Russian Federation.

«The new sanctions will not significantly affect our economic well-being,» Putin said.

According to him, such steps on the part of the West are «an attempt to put pressure on Russia», but, as he stressed, the, «no respectable country ever does anything under pressure».


«It will cost them dearly»

Putin also noted that the consequences of the new package of sanctions will be felt by the countries that impose them.

«This will cost them dearly. We have already been through something like this and we know how to act,» the Russian president stressed.


«Dialogue is always better than continued war»

Despite the harsh attitude towards the restrictions, Putin said that Russia «remains open to dialogue».

«Dialogue is always better than continuing the war. We are ready to talk if our partners are constructive,» he said.

Earlier, the United States announced new, 19th package of sanctions against russia, which covers the financial sector, defence companies and individuals close to the Kremlin.
There is no official confirmation of a new date for the Budapest summit.
