Rada temporarily suspends work due to Energoatom scandal and ministerial resignations
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk announced the temporary suspension of the work of the parliament due to political tensions related to the scandal in the state-owned company «Energoatom» and a series of resignations in the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to him, the government is now «moving into consultation mode on the current situation», after which the Council will continue its work.
Why there was a pause
The plenary session was suspended after the deputies made more statements about the need to do so:
find out the circumstances of personnel decisions in the government,
to hear explanations about the situation at Energoatom,
coordinate the position between factions and government representatives.
While the consultations are ongoing, the Board does not vote on any decisions.
Context.
