Russia again fails to meet Putin's deadline for seizing Pokrovsk and Kupiansk
Russia has once again failed to meet Putin's deadlines for the capture of Pokrovsk and Kupiansk. This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a meeting with the heads of the defence and security sector.
According to the president, the Russian command set strict deadlines for its units to capture key areas, but none of these deadlines was not fulfilled - and now they have been postponed again.
Details
Zelenskyy noted:
Russian troops were supposed to «reach Pokrovsk» within the timeframe set by Putin;
The situation is similar in the Kupyansk direction;
Despite massive efforts, Russia suffers significant losses and fails to achieve its goals;
Ukrainian defence remains resilient, and the command is constantly adjusting its actions to strengthen its positions.
The President emphasised that Ukrainian forces were effectively restraining the enemy, disrupting its pace of advance.
Context.
Pokrovsk and Kupiansk are two key operational areas where Russia has been trying to break through Ukrainian defences in recent months.
The Kremlin regularly sets deadlines for achieving «political results» that the Russian army is actually unable to meet because of the
large losses in personnel;
Lack of prepared reserves;
problems with logistics;
a growing shortage of equipment.
Ukraine is systematically holding the line of defence, preventing Russia from achieving its strategic goals.
