Pope Leo XIV receives Ukrainian children returned from Russia
The faithful from around the world witnessed an important moment of solidarity: On 21 November, a Ukrainian delegation, including children returned from Russia and women released from captivity, was received by Pope Leo XIV. The meeting was reported by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Iryna Vereshchuk, on Facebook.
During the audience, the children were presented with drawings and T-shirts with the symbols of Ukraine, and the Pope gave them rosaries as a sign of support and blessing. Vereshchuk noted that the Ukrainian side had asked the Holy See to increase assistance in the release of children and prisoners.
After the meeting, the delegation and the Pope prayed together for life, children and peace. For many participants, this was a symbol of great hope.
