Expert Roman Svitan: Echelon air defence should be scaled up to the entire frontline

To counter massive Russian air attacks, it is necessary to deploy effective echelon air defence along the entire front line. This was stated by a military expert Roman Svitan.

Example of the Third Building

According to the expert, The Third Corps under the command of Andriy Biletskyi has already created an effective frontline air defence system that:

  • covers not only the front line, but also peaceful cities;

  • capable of shoot down dozens of attack drones per night;

  • combines various means of destruction into a single defence system.

Svitan gave an example of when, in one night, the 33 attack drones.

What should the security system look like

The expert stressed that such defence should include:

  • short-range anti-aircraft missile systems;

  • man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS);

  • interceptor drones;

  • multi-level organisation of fire along the entire frontline.

In his opinion, this approach is the most a key way to counteract Russia's escalating air attacks.

Scaling to the entire front line

Svitan emphasised that the length of the front is about two thousand kilometres from Odesa to the border with Belarus - makes the issue of systemic air defence critical.

«Look at what has been done in the Third Corps and implement it along the entire frontline - then there will be no such trouble,» the expert said.

Context.

Ukraine regularly suffers from massive attacks with drones and missiles, The Russian Federation has been targeting cities and critical infrastructure.
Amplification frontline air defence is seen as one of the key areas for improving the security of rear regions and reducing losses from air strikes.
