Russian civil aviation will have to write off 340 aircraft due to sanctions - SVR

By 2030, Russian civil aviation will be forced to write off about 340 passenger aircraft, The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (SZR) reports. We are talking about 230 Russians and also 109 imported aircraft that cannot undergo high-quality maintenance due to sanctions restrictions.

One of the biggest problems for the Russian aviation industry is aircraft SSJ-100, These are based on Western technologies. Access to original components and technical support for them is completely blocked, making further operation dangerous and economically unreasonable.

Context.

After the outbreak of a full-scale war against Ukraine, the world's leading aircraft manufacturing corporations - including Boeing, Airbus and dozens of component manufacturers - completely ceased cooperation with Russia. As a result, Russia is forced to “cannibalise” own fleet, disassembling individual aircraft for spare parts.

The European Aviation Safety Agency and a number of international expert organisations have repeatedly warned that operating aircraft without access to original parts dramatically increases the risk of incidents, and by the end of the decade, Russian aviation could lose a significant part of its fleet.
