Russians are trying to break through to Dnipro region - Shaptala
After heavy battles for Pokrovsk Russian troops expanded the offensive front, trying to break into the territory of Dnipropetrovska oblast.
This was reported by Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Shaptala, Commander of the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
«This is not a distraction, but part of a larger plan - the enemy is trying to reach several administrative boundaries at once and create conditions for further offensive,» Shaptala said.
A new direction of attack
According to the military, The enemy has already crossed the administrative border of the Dnipro region, and the fighting is taking place at the junction between Donetsk and Pavlohrad districts.
The goal of the occupiers is to stretch the Ukrainian defence and create a threat to the logistics supply routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Shaptala emphasised that this operation is not local, It is coordinated with other Russian offensives in eastern and southern Ukraine.
Risks for the region
Despite the enemy's advance, the commander of the 67th Brigade stressed that there is no threat to the city of Dnipro at the moment.
«There is no risk that the frontline will reach Dnipro in 2026. Our units hold their positions and have reserves,» the officer noted.

After a series of attacks in the Pokrovske direction, the Russian army is trying to move west, to cover the Ukrainian position from several angles.
Analysts believe that such actions indicate Kremlin's attempt to open a new stage of the offensive in the south-east of Ukraine.
