US, UK and France discuss security guarantees for Ukraine

The parties are in discussion security guarantees for Ukraine, which may include sending military units from the UK and France, as well as support from the United States. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to him, the issue of security guarantees is at the stage of consultations between partners, and various formats of possible allied participation in ensuring stability and deterring further Russian aggression are being considered.

Rubio noted that it is not just about political declarations, but about real security mechanisms, which may include:

  • the presence of troops from individual European states;

  • coordination of actions with the United States;

  • multilateral agreements within broader international formats.

Context.

The issue of security guarantees for Ukraine is being actively discussed against the backdrop of diplomatic efforts to end the war and form a long-term deterrence of russia. Ukraine has repeatedly emphasised that any agreements should include specific and effective guarantees, and not just political assurances.
