Rubio: We are halfway to securing Ukraine's independence
Miami, 30 November 2025. During a meeting of the Ukrainian delegation with strategic partners in Miami, Marco Rubio said that the United States and Ukraine have made significant progress in developing a common security policy.
Rubio's statement
After the talks began, Rubio stressed that cooperation between Washington and Kyiv was becoming more systematic:
«We are already halfway to securing Ukraine's independence. We made significant progress today,» Rubio said.
Ukraine's position
Head of the Ukrainian delegation and NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov stressed that the parties are moving on to discuss strategic decisions:
«We are now discussing the future of Ukraine, security, prosperity and reconstruction of Ukraine. We look forward to a productive meeting.».
Context.
The meeting in Miami is a continuation of days-long consultations between Kyiv and Washington on the development of an updated algorithm for ending the war and long-term security guarantees for Ukraine.
