Romania to open one of the largest logistics hubs to help Ukraine - DefenseRomania
У Romania A large logistics centre for the coordination and transit of military aid to Ukraine will be launched in January 2026. This is reported by the DefenceRomania.
Project details
The new logistics hub will be the second largest after the Polish centre in Rzeszow and will significantly increase the capacity to deliver aid to Ukraine on its eastern flank NATO.
The launch of the Romanian centre is expected:
will reduce the burden on the Polish logistics infrastructure;
speed up the transit of weapons and equipment;
increase the resilience of supply routes in the event of threats or disruptions.
NATO's role
According to the publication, the centre will be located under the direct command of NATO and will be integrated into the system for coordinating Ukraine's operational needs. This is about coordinating supplies:
artillery systems and ammunition;
air defence systems;
electronic warfare systems;
other military equipment, taking into account the capabilities of donor countries.
Context.
Romania is gradually strengthening its role as a key logistics and security hub for the Alliance in the Black Sea region. The opening of the new hub is seen as a strategic step to provide long-term support to Ukraine and strengthen the defence capabilities of NATO's eastern flank.
