Russia attacks DTEK's thermal power plants: equipment severely damaged
At night, Russian troops launched another massive attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Under attack were DTEK's thermal power plants, where it is recorded serious damage to the equipment.
The company confirmed that the shelling caused shutdown of some power units and local fires, which were quickly extinguished by power engineers and rescuers.
«We are working to eliminate the consequences. Unfortunately, the enemy is once again targeting the energy front.
In total, DTEK's thermal power plants have been shelled more than 200 times since the start of the full-scale invasion,» the company's press service said.
The situation in the power system
Ukrenergo notes that the night attack was one of the most powerful in recent months. Due to the large-scale damage Emergency shutdown schedules were introduced in several regions, primarily in Kyiv, Poltava, Dnipro and Sumy.
Power engineers are working around the clock to stabilise the system. Priority is being given to critical infrastructure facilities such as hospitals, water utilities and transport hubs.

Attacks on generation facilities have been recorded almost daily since the beginning of October. Ukrainian analysts warn that Russia is once again trying to disrupt the energy system before the winter season, using «energy terror» as an element of pressure on the civilian population.
