Russians are planning attacks on Poland's critical infrastructure and sabotage on the border with Belarus.
According to intelligence reports, Russia may attempt to attack Poland's critical infrastructure. These are energy facilities, transport hubs and logistics centres of strategic importance to the country and NATO.
In addition, Moscow can use sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRG) in the border areas of Poland and Belarus to destabilise the situation and test Warsaw's reaction.
The reaction of the Polish authorities
The Polish government is considering several scenarios. The main focus is on:
strengthening the protection of critical infrastructure facilities;
strengthening the border areas, especially in the Belarusian direction;
active cooperation with NATO allies to counter threats.
Poland's Ministry of Defence has already stated that any provocations by Russia or Belarus will be met with an immediate response.
Why it is dangerous
Attacks on Poland's infrastructure could affect not only the country itself, but also the supply of aid to Ukraine.
Sabotage at the border could create a security crisis in the region and provoke increased tensions between NATO and Russia.
Poland is a key transport and military hub for Ukraine, so any actions against its security are of a strategic nature.
Context.
In recent months, Warsaw has repeatedly stated that the risks of provocations from Russia and Belarus have increased. Control over critical facilities in the country has already been strengthened, and additional forces are being deployed to the border regions for defence.
