Zelensky: Russia wants to strike at Ukraine with a blackout this year
The President warned: Russia is preparing massive attacks on the energy system in autumn and winter
Statement by the Head of State
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia is seeking to repeat its tactics this year energy terror and strike at Ukrainian infrastructure to leave the country without electricity.
According to Zelenskyy, the Kremlin's main goal is to provoke massive blackouts, The government is determined to disrupt the heating season and make life difficult for millions of citizens.
Why it matters
Last winter, Russian troops already tried to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heat by launching massive strikes with drones and missiles. Although the power grid survived, the country was severely tested:
long power outages,
damage to substations and thermal power plants,
emergency repairs in extremely difficult conditions.
Preparing Ukraine
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is actively preparing for the new heating season:
damaged energy facilities are being restored,
generators and equipment for backup power are purchased,
The air defence system is being strengthened.
International support
The President called on partners to increase assistance in the energy and air defence sectors. He stressed that it was international support that helped Ukraine survive last year, and this year it will be no less crucial.
📌 Conclusion: Russia is once again relying on «energy terror». Ukraine is preparing to withstand new attacks, and the world must give the Kremlin a tough response.
