On the night of 29 October, in Ulyanovsk region of the Russian Federation rang out a series of powerful explosions on the territory of a local oil depot. This was reported by Russian telegram channels and eyewitnesses.

Five explosions and a large-scale fire

According to local residents, the following happened at the facility at least five explosions, and then a large fire broke out.
The flames were visible from several settlements, and the fire quickly spread through the fuel storage facilities.

900 km from the border with Ukraine

The incident occurred around 900 kilometres from the Ukrainian border. Russian officials have not yet commented on the causes of the explosions, but social media suggest that it could be drone attack.

Response of local authorities

Regional authorities confirmed the fire, but did not provide details on the number of victims or the extent of the damage. Fire and rescue units are working at the scene.
