
An ammunition plant in Mordovia and an oil refinery in Dagestan are hit
As part of operations to reduce the military and economic potential of the aggressor, units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine on the night of 22 October hit a number of strategic targets in Russia. The confirmed targets include Saransk Mechanical Plant in the Republic of Mordovia and Makhachkala Oil Refinery in the Republic of Dagestan.
What is known about Saransk Mechanical Plant (Mordovia)
On the territory of the enterprise, the following was recorded explosions. The plant reportedly specialises in manufacturing:
anti-personnel engineering ammunition and mine kits;
detonators for ammunition and firing units.
The targeted destruction of such an enterprise could limit the enemy's production capabilities in terms of engineering equipment and ammunition. The extent of the damage and operational implications for production are currently being clarified.
The Makhachkala oil refinery (Dagestan) was damaged
Fixed a hit to one of the processing plants on the territory of the Makhachkala refinery. The plant provides:
supplying fuel and storing it for the needs of the Caspian Fleet's naval base;
refuelling of Russian military vessels;
annual processing volume of up to 1 million tonnes oil.
Damage to such facilities could complicate the logistics and fuel supply of enemy naval operations. The assessment of the damage is ongoing.

The defence forces reported that they continue to take measures to undermining the military and economic potential of russia and forcing the aggressor to stop its armed aggression against Ukraine. Officially, the operations are intended to hit production and logistics hubs that directly support the enemy's military operations.
Consequences and further actions
Information is currently being collected on the extent of the damage and environmental risks, including possible fires and emissions at the refinery. The Ukrainian side reports continuing operations at the selected targets.
