Kolomoisky's lawyer Serhiy Stetsiuk detained - SBU
Employees Security Services of Ukraine a businessman's lawyer was detained Ihor Kolomoisky - Sergey Stetsyuk. This was reported by the SBU.
According to the investigation, Stetsiuk demanded $100 ths. from representatives of one of the capital's companies for «resolving» tax issues. In case of refusal, he threatened to impose fines in the amount of almost UAH 1 billion.
Details of the case
According to the SBU, the suspect positioned himself as a person with «extensive connections» in government agencies and claimed that he could influence the results of tax audits.
Law enforcement officers detained him during the implementation of a corruption scheme. The issue of serving a notice of suspicion and choosing a measure of restraint is currently being decided.
Qualifications
The actions of the defendant are classified under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine related to extortion of undue advantage and abuse of influence. The investigation is ongoing.
The SBU emphasises that the person is presumed innocent, until her guilt is proven in court.
