SBU finds over $300 thousand from head of district HQC at TEC in Dnipro region

The Security Service of Ukraine during searches found more than $300,000 in cash as the head of one of the district military medical commissions (MMCs) operating at the territorial recruitment centre in the Dnipro region.

According to the sources, we are talking about Valentina Kurysh.

Scheme of evasion from mobilisation

The investigation established that the head of the VLC acted in collusion with accomplices Alexey Patalaha and Sergey Kalistratov. The group systematically produced fictitious medical certificates for persons liable for military service who avoided conscription.

The cost of such «services» was from 2.5 thousand US dollars from one person.

Searches and evidence

During the investigation, law enforcement officers documented more than 20 facts of bribery transfer. The published photos show that tables are literally lined with wads of dollars, which, according to the investigation, were obtained illegally.

The cash was seized along with documents, mobile phones and other evidence of illegal activity.

Punishment.

The defendants in the case face up to 10 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are checking the possible involvement of other TCC and VLC officials.

Context.

Corruption offences in the area of mobilisation remain a priority for the SSU and other law enforcement agencies. The authorities have repeatedly stated that zero tolerance to schemes for evading military duty under martial law.
