SBU detains spotter who directed Russian strikes on Kyiv
The Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian shelling spotter, who worked for the FSB and passed intelligence on Kyiv to the enemy.
The defendant was A 36-year-old employee of a company that installed fire and security systems at critical facilities in the capital.
His access to strategic locations allowed him to quietly collect information of interest to the Russian special services.
What he did
According to the investigation, during the autumn, the man:
collected coordinates of strategic and energy facilities Kyiv;
He passed them on to the FSB as potential «targets» for missile strikes;
He visited the sites of previous shelling,
recorded the consequences of attacks and immediately reported back to the enemy to adjust repeated strikes.
In this way, he helped the Russian Federation to conduct targeted strikes on the capital and assess their effectiveness.
What was seized
During the searches, security forces found smartphones and flash drives, 8 Ukrainian SIM cards, which the traitor used for conspiracy and communication with the FSB.
All the seized items were sent for examination.
Punishment.
The detainee is in custody. He is charged with high treason and aiding the aggressor state.
The maximum sanction is life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Context.
In recent months, Kyiv has been regularly attacked by Russian drones and missiles. The SBU is consistently working to identify agents who help the enemy prepare attacks on the capital's critical infrastructure.
