SBU exposes scheme with «fictitious service» in the Main Hospital of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

SBU jointly with the Prosecutor General's Office exposed a scheme of fictitious enlistment for military service in one of the divisions Main Military Clinical Hospital of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the following persons were involved in organising the scheme Head of the centre for organising security and defence of facilities healthcare facility Alexander Ivanov.

How the scheme worked

Law enforcement officers established that the official:

  • was recruited to his unit acquaintances who did not actually serve;

  • after the person is enrolled falsely obtained the status of military personnel;

  • salary cards of such «employees» were held by the suspect;

  • money from accounts filmed by the defendant himself.

Amount of damage and suspicion

According to the SBU, the May 2022 an official in the following way received about UAH 2.6 million.

He is already a notice of suspicion has been served. If the guilt is proved, the defendant faces up to 12 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Context.

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies regularly report on exposing corruption schemes in the military sphere, related to mobilisation, medical certificates and fictitious registration of service.

Strengthening control over the use of budget funds and Combating corruption during the war remains one of the state's key priorities.
