Ukraine is testing FP-7 on the territory of Russia

Ukrainian company Fire Point announced the launch of test strikes on Russian territory with a new FP-7 ballistic missile. This is the first domestic development of this class, which can hit targets at a distance of up to 200 km.

The FP-7 is a domestic analogue of the US ATACMS missile. The missile is launched from ground-based platforms, allowing for a flexible response to threats.

  • Range - up to 200 km
  • The warhead weighs about 150 kg
  • Speed - up to 1500 m/s (over 5000 km/h)

Technical characteristics of FP-7

The FP-7 has high accuracy: the deviation from the target is about 14 metres. The flight time to the maximum range is about 250 seconds.

The missile can carry a warhead weighing up to 150 kg. It is launched from mobile ground platforms, which increases the efficiency of its use.

Context.

The FP-7 is being developed amid restrictions on the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine. The Fire Point manufacturer emphasises that the new missile is designed to hit important enemy military targets.

The Ukrainian military already has experience of using Western analogues, such as ATACMS. The in-house development makes it possible to increase the potential for precision strikes on strategic targets in Russia.
