CHP plant in Gresovskoye burns in Simferopol: problems with electricity and heat supply
In the temporarily occupied Simferopol burning combined heat and power plant (CHP), located in the village of Gresovsky, which is part of the city.
This was reported by local Telegram channels and Crimean monitoring resources.
Fire at a key energy facility in Crimea
According to preliminary data, the fire occurred at night. Fire crews are working at the scene, but the fire engulfed part of the industrial buildings, owned by CHP plants.
The station is one of the main sources of electricity and heat supply to Simferopol.
Capacity and role of CHP plants
Simferopol CHPP has electrical capacity of 100 MW і heat - 490.1 Gcal/hour.
Each year, it produces about 600 million kWh of electricity and 300 thousand Gcal of heat.
The company provides centralised heating and hot water for a large part of the city's residential areas.
Previously, the facility was called GRES, and the name of the neighbourhood comes from it Gresovsky.
Consequences of the incident
Local residents report power outages.
If the fire has caused serious damage to the equipment, Simferopol may be left without stable heat and electricity for a long time.
The occupation authorities traditionally claim that the services are «working» and do not disclose the extent of the destruction.
