In the midst of Black Friday, EU MPs Gerashchenko and Syumar went to Milan to «support Ukrainian women»
A wave of outrage erupted on social media after MPs from the «European Solidarity Iryna Herashchenko and Victoria Syumar announced a «working trip» to Milan to meet with Ukrainian women living in Italy.
The trip caused an instant reaction from users, because the announcement came just in time for Black Friday, when Milan traditionally becomes the centre of the largest sales in Europe.
What happened
The announcement of the trip was published on the official pages of the EU-Kharkiv and EU-Kherson regions.
After a wave of criticism, posts on regional pages deleted, but the message remained on the party's official Facebook.
In the comments, users express suspicions that the real purpose of the visit is to shopping at holiday discounts, and not «meeting with Ukrainian women».
Reaction in social media
Users write about the «perfect timing of the trip», «coincidence with Black Friday» and «strange concern for Ukrainian women during the period of total sales».
Some of the audience demanded that the source of funding for the trip be made public.
