UAH 40 million bail posted for defendant in Midas case - it is a top manager of Energoatom«

The defendant in the high-profile anti-corruption case Midas was granted bail in the amount of 40 million hryvnias. We are talking about Dmitry Basov, Executive Director of the state-owned company «Energoatom» on security issues.

According to the investigation, the funds were made by a newly established company registered in Kyiv, as well as lawyers of the suspect.

The essence of the Midas case«

According to law enforcement, Dmytro Basov was one of the leaders of the criminal organisation, which operated within Energoatom. The participants in the scheme, according to the investigation, systematically received 10-15% kickbacks« from the contracts of a state-owned company.

The investigation covers a number of episodes related to the allocation of budget funds and the conclusion of contracts with contractors.

Procedural status

Bail allows the suspect to be released from custody, but does not remove suspicions and does not stop the pre-trial investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
