Zelenskyy: US demonstrates constructive approach to negotiations

President says Ukraine and the US are approaching an agreed vision of the path to peace

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States is demonstrating a constructive approach in negotiations to end the war, and in the coming days key steps may be finalised that will define a plan to achieve a decent peace.

The Head of State emphasised that the Ukrainian side was working with American partners to coordinate approaches to the end of the war.
According to him, the results of the previous consultations in Geneva laid the groundwork for further agreements in the United States.

«The United States is being constructive, and it is quite possible to finalise the steps in the coming days to determine how to end the war with dignity.», Zelensky said.

The context of the negotiations

Ukrainian delegation headed by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov is on his way to the United States to continue meetings with representatives of the Washington administration.
According to Ukrainian and American media, representatives of the General Staff and intelligence are involved in the work, which is to assess possible scenarios for the end of the war.

Zelenskyy expects the delegation to report «promptly and meaningfully» next Sunday.

Possible steps to take

According to sources in diplomatic circles, they are being discussed:

• framework security guarantees for Ukraine;

• mechanisms for monitoring compliance with the terms and conditions;

• a formula for international participation in peacekeeping;

• conditions for further military-technical cooperation.
