Washington positively assesses talks with Putin and invites Ukrainian delegation to the US - Siberia

First Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga said that the United States positively assessed the results of its recent talks with Putin in Moscow and invited the Ukrainian delegation to Washington for further consultations. Sibiga said this in an interview, commenting on the diplomatic processes taking place in recent days.

According to him, Kyiv and Washington have already had contact after the meeting between the Russian and American sides.

What we know about the invitation

Sibiga noted that the US has expressed readiness to receive the Ukrainian delegation in the near future, to coordinate their positions and discuss further steps in the security and diplomatic spheres.

The invitation to the US, according to the minister, is evidence that Washington wants to maintain close coordination with Kyiv regardless of its own contacts with Moscow.

Context.

A US delegation visited Moscow the day before and met with Putin, the first such contact in a long time. The White House described it as part of a broader diplomatic effort to end the war.

Sibiga stressed that Ukraine continues to adhere to its own principles: the full restoration of territorial integrity and security, as well as guarantees that must be internationally enshrined.
