Starlink drones can no longer effectively attack Ukraine: SpaceX imposes first restrictions
According to Russian propaganda sources, satellite internet Starlink has ceased to work stably on drones when travelling at high speed. As a result, Russian drones lose communication and can no longer use the system to target and adjust strikes on Ukrainian territory.
These are restrictions that are triggered during UAV flight, which, according to the Russians, makes the service unsuitable for combat use in the air.
Confirmation from the Ukrainian side
Ukrainian specialist in electronic warfare and UAVs Sergey «Flash» Beskrestnov confirmed the first countermeasures by SpaceX against the use of Starlink by Russian drones.
According to him, the current restrictions are already working and are aimed at Protecting Ukraine's military, civilians and critical infrastructure. At the same time, this is only the initial stage - more clear and systematic solutions are expected to be implemented in the future.
Context.
Satellite communication Starlink has repeatedly been at the centre of discussions due to Russia's attempts to use it for military purposes. SpaceX has publicly stated that the service is intended for civilian use and should not be used by the aggressor to conduct hostilities.
The introduction of technical restrictions could be an important step in reducing Russia's ability to use drones to strike Ukraine.
