Stavrolen chemical plant burns in Russia after drone attack

A nighttime drone attack in the Stavropol Territory

On the night of 12 November in Stavropol Territory explosions and a fire broke out at the Stavrolen chemical plant“ in the town of Budyonovsk. According to preliminary data, the facility was hit by drones.

“Stavrolen is one of the of the largest petrochemical enterprises in Russia, which is part of the company's structure “Lukoil”.

Local Telegram channels report on a series of detonations and a large fire on the territory of the plant. The Russian authorities traditionally claimed that the drones were «shot down», but local residents published videos of powerful explosions.

• 340 thousand tonnes of ethylene,

• 319 thousand tonnes of polyethylene,

• 113 thousand tonnes of polypropylene.

In recent weeks, Russian oil refineries and chemical companies are regularly targeted by nighttime drone attacks. Similar incidents were previously recorded in Ryazan, Saratov, Belgorod і Rostov region.
