A new system for reserve students

According to the commentary Ivan Tymochko, all students, who successfully complete basic general military training (BGMT) and take the military oath, will automatically receive the status of reservists.

However, according to him, this does not mean that such persons will have automatic priority during mobilisation.

«A student who has passed the CPE and is 25 years old, like all other persons liable for military service during mobilisation, can be called up, but the state will not automatically give priority only to those who have passed the CPE,» Tymochko explained.

What's next?

The head of the reservists noted that after taking the oath and joining the reserve, everyone will be military registration. Further recruitment will depend not only on status, but also on the needs of the Armed Forces:

  • by profession or speciality;

  • by mobilisation criteria.

Context.

This decision fits into the overall reform of the reserve and mobilisation system in Ukraine. Against the backdrop of active hostilities and the need to promptly replenish the Armed Forces reserve, the emphasis is on training of qualified reservists - young, physically fit men who have undergone some military training.
