Former PrivatBank owners Ihor Kolomoisky and Gennadiy Boholyubov are to pay over $3bn in compensation and court costs by 24 November, according to a ruling by the High Court of England.

English court orders Kolomoisky and Bogolyubov to pay $3bn

According to the PrivatBank, the High Court of Justice of England issued a decision in which obliged the former owners of the bank, Ihor Kolomoisky and Hennadiy Boholyubov pay more than $3 billion USD, including legal costs.

The court determined that the funds should be paid before 24 November, after which the amount will be interest accrued. In case of non-payment, the bank will be entitled to initiate enforcement action of the defendants' assets.


Background to the case

У July 2025 The High Court of England recognises Kolomoisky and Bogolyubov guilty of large-scale fraud against PrivatBank.

According to the decision, they illegally withdrew billions of dollars from the institution through a complex network of offshore companies and fictitious loans.


Bank's response

PrivatBank said that this decision is historic for the entire banking system of Ukraine, as it confirms the facts of fraud established after the bank's nationalisation in 2016.

«The court victory in England is another step towards restoring justice and returning depositors» funds," the bank's press service said.
