Attack in the city centre
Russian drone strikes at an intersection with active traffic in Sumy, The local authorities said.
As a result of the explosion nine people were injured, The accident involved several drivers and pedestrians. Some of them were hospitalised with injuries of varying severity.
At the scene of the incident are The State Emergency Service, police and ambulance workers.
Consequences of the explosion
The blast wave damaged several cars, It broke windows in neighbouring buildings and destroyed part of the road surface.
The rescuers quickly extinguished the fire that started after the drone hit.
Local authorities report that traffic on the site is temporarily blocked.
«The explosion was very powerful. Glass shattered even in neighbouring houses,» said an eyewitness.
Government response
The head of the regional military administration noted that the attack was on civilian infrastructure, and this offence will be documented as another russian military terrorist attack against civilians.
The Ukrainian military emphasises that Russia is increasingly using kamikaze drones against civilian targets, particularly in Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions.
