The International Energy Agency (IEA) called on businesses and households to return to working from home. This is part of urgent measures to reduce fuel consumption amid the oil crisis.
IEA offers massive remote work
The International Energy Agency has released an emergency plan to stabilise the oil market. The main recommendation is to transfer employees to remote work.
Experts estimate that the massive switch to Home Office will allow for a rapid reduction in fuel consumption. This should reduce the burden on logistics, which is critical for the industry in times of fuel shortages.
Additional measures to save fuel
In addition to remote work, the IEA proposes a number of measures that have already been used during the fuel crisis of the 1970s:
- Reducing speed limits on motorways by at least 10 km/h
- Implementation of entry to cities by car number (even/odd days)
- Avoiding air travel if alternative means of transport are available
The purpose of such actions is to reduce oil consumption and avoid further economic collapse due to fuel shortages.
