У To the Verkhovna Rada a draft law has been registered that provides for new requirements for messengers. Telegram must have an official representative in Ukraine, disclose owners and sources of funding. Failure to comply with the requirements may result in fines or restrictions on the use of the technology by government agencies.

The draft law proposes to make the work of messengers more transparent. In particular, Telegram and other platforms must have an official representative in Ukraine.
Messengers will be required to disclose information about their owners and sources of funding. They must also promptly remove malicious content.
Liability for violations
If platforms do not comply with the requirements, they may be fined. The use of messengers by government agencies may also be restricted.

Context.
Telegram is one of the most popular messengers in Ukraine. Previously, the issue of transparency and regulation of messengers was not regulated at the legislative level.
The draft law still needs to be reviewed by the relevant committees and voted on by the Rada.
