Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk resigns from her post
Minister of Energy Svitlana Grinchuk submitted her resignation. This was reported by government sources after a series of decisions on personnel changes in the Cabinet of Ministers.
Its decision coincides with political events related to the case NABU on corruption at Energoatom“, through which previously President Vladimir Zelensky called for the dismissal of two ministers - Energy and Justice.
Context.
Hrynchuk takes over at the Energy Ministry after the previous head was dismissed Herman Galushchenko.
Her term of office covered the period of active Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, when the industry was facing serious challenges to the stability of the power system.
The day before, Zelenskyy emphasised in his address that “there can be no schemes and doubts in the energy sector” and that the government should act decisively on issues of trust and transparency.
What's next
Hrynchuk's application has yet to be considered by the Verkhovna Rada. According to the procedure, Parliament votes for the resignation of a government member with a simple majority.
For now a deputy minister or other government-appointed official will temporarily perform the duties.
