Syrskyi: Russian control of Pokrovsk is out of the question - stabilisation of the situation in the area continues
Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky reported on Stabilising the situation in the area of the Pokrovsko-Myrnohrad operation and denied reports of the alleged control of the town of Pokrovsk by Russian troops.
«We are not talking about Russian control over the city of Pokrovsk or the operational encirclement of the Ukrainian Defence Forces group,» Syrsky stressed.
Main defence tasks
According to him, The Pokrovske direction remains the main one in the context of the enemy's offensive - This is where the the largest number of daily assault operations and focused a significant part of the Russian group.
«Our main tasks remain to gradually take control of certain areas, support and protect existing logistics routes, as well as organise additional ones to ensure timely supply of defenders and uninterrupted evacuation of the wounded,» he said.
Syrsky emphasised that the enemy is trying to take advantage of difficult weather conditions, but the Ukrainian military continues to hold the line of defence and destroy assault groups of the enemy.
Combat situation
On the outskirts of Pokrovsk and in the city's urban area, the following activities are underway daily battles with small enemy assault infantry groups.
Less commonly, light armoured vehicles are used, which Ukrainian military successfully destroy.
In parallel in the Ocheretyne direction The defence forces are conducting search and strike operations, as a result of which over the past 7 days 7.4 km² of Pokrovske district was cleared of enemy subversive reconnaissance groups.

Syrsky said that personally visited the Pokrovske direction, where, together with the commanders summed up the results of combat missions and planned further actions.
He emphasised that Stabilisation of the situation depends on the level of interaction between military command and control bodies, units and subunits.
«Our soldiers are doing everything to make it impossible for the enemy to move and gain a foothold,» the commander concluded.
