Teenager from Chortkiv tried to blow up a military man's car

The Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention of a teenager from Chortkiv, who, according to the agency, was arrested, recruited by representatives of the Russian special services via Telegram. The guy was detained during the preparation and alleged «execution of a task» - blowing up a military vehicle, The SBU said in a statement.

According to the investigation, after the detention, the teenager fully admitted his guilt and provided investigators with information that allowed to expose the Russian curator - the person who coordinated his actions through prohibited messengers.

Details of the proceedings

The SBU reports that:

  • communication with the teenager was established through Telegram channels;

  • The exchange of instructions took place remotely, under the guise of «tasks» with rewards;

  • law enforcement officers detained the man «at the scene of the crime», which helped to avoid casualties and further attacks;

  • The testimonies obtained helped to identify and document the actions of the curator from the aggressor country.

Investigative actions are currently underway - law enforcement officers are documenting all the circumstances of the recruitment, the communication channel and the network of curators. The case has been classified under articles that provide for liability for preparing a terrorist act and high treason/collaboration with foreign intelligence services (the specific qualification is not publicly specified).
