Russian drone explodes in Chernihiv region - two dead and one wounded

During fieldwork in Chernihiv region the remains of a downed Russian drone exploded. According to State Emergency Service (SES), The drone detonated while agricultural machinery was working in the field.

The explosion took place in an open area near a village where demining had previously been carried out after kamikaze drone attacks.

As a result of the detonation two men were killed, who were close to the equipment, still one employee was injured.
He was taken to a local hospital, his condition is assessed as moderate.

The SES reports that The explosion was so powerful, which damaged the three units of agricultural machinery - tractor, combine and loader.

The explosion was caused by the remains of ammunition from the drone

According to preliminary information, the detonation occurred due to Remnants of explosives from a downed Russian UAV of the “Shahed” type.
The sappers assume that part of the warhead remained active after the impact and exploded under mechanical impact during the cultivation of the land.

“Russian drones pose a deadly danger even after being shot down. People should not approach the wreckage or remains of such vehicles,” the SES stressed.

Rescuers, sappers and law enforcement officers are working at the scene.
Specialists check the surrounding area for other explosive objects, The reason for this is that repeated detonations are possible.

The SES calls on citizens:

• not to approach downed drones;

• Do not touch the wreckage;

• immediately report by calling 101 or 102.
