The situation in Ukraine's energy system remains difficult - Acting Energy Minister

The situation in Ukraine's energy system remains challenging. This was stated by the Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov, commenting on the current state of electricity supply in the regions.

According to him, the energy sector is working in an enhanced mode, but a number of factors - the effects of Russian attacks, high consumption during frosts and weather conditions - make it difficult to stabilise the system.


The most difficult situation is in the capital

The largest workload is currently accounted for by capital region.
У Kyiv and Kyiv region apply network restrictions, а the previously published hourly outage schedules are temporarily not valid.

The Ministry of Energy noted that returning to projected schedules will take place as soon as the situation in the power system stabilises.


Restrictions in the regions

  • Odesa regioncertain restrictions remain in place, as in previous weeks. The region continues to emergency repair and restoration works after previous attacks by Russian troops.

  • Dnipropetrovska oblastas of the morning more than 40 thousand subscribers were left without electricity supply. Restoration work is ongoing.

  • Chernihiv and Kyiv regions: through adverse weather conditions de-energised 12 settlements.


General situation in the country

In most regions of Ukraine:

  • act schedules of hourly outages for all categories of consumers;

  • apply power limitation schedules for industry.

In several areas, the energy sector is forced to resort to emergency shutdowns due to overloading of equipment in conditions of high consumption during frosts.

Ukraine's energy system is operating in the face of constant attacks from Russia and seasonal peak consumption. The government calls on citizens and businesses to use electricity rationally, to reduce the load on the networks.
