A fire broke out on the territory of the Ural Turbine Plant in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
The fire engulfed the roof of one of the company's main workshops, which manufactures equipment for energy facilities.
Fire at an industrial enterprise
According to local media reports, a fire broke out in the production building, the area of ignition is about 1000 square metres.
Smoke is visible from several parts of the city.
«The roof of the workshop is on fire. Firefighters are trying to localise the fire, partial collapse of structures is taking place,» Russian Telegram channels report.
What the plant produces
Ural Turbine Plant (UTZ) specialises in the production of power turbines for nuclear power plants, thermal power plants and naval vessels in Russia.
The company is part of a Russian holding company “Rotek”, which works closely with the defence industry.
The causes of the fire are being investigated
The official cause of the fire has not yet been announced.
Preliminary, the fire could have been caused by a short circuit or explosion of the equipment.
