The war will last longer: Rheinmetall CEO's forecast
The end of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine in 2026 is unlikely, as the Russian side shows no interest in ending hostilities. This was stated by the CEO of the German defence concern Rheinmetall in an interview with the German media.
Ukraine needs long-term military support
According to the CEO, Ukraine will continue to need significant international assistance to deter aggression. Rheinmetall is ready to expand the supply of military equipment, in particular:
air defence systems;
of different types of ammunition;
unmanned aerial vehicles;
armoured vehicles and tanks.
At the same time, he noted that funding was not provided in all areas, which could affect the pace of arms deliveries.
Growth of the European defence industry
Amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, European defence manufacturers have significantly increased their revenues. Rheinmetall estimates that the industry's revenue grew by around 36%, This indicates a large-scale rearmament of European countries and a growing demand for military products.
Context.
Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine has been going on for four years. Ukraine continues to receive military, financial and humanitarian assistance from its EU and NATO partners, while Russia maintains its offensive potential and does not demonstrate readiness for sustainable peace.
Analysts believe that the further course of the war will largely depend on the amount of international support for Ukraine, the state of the Russian economy, and political decisions of Western allies.
