«The court ruled to keep Trukhanov under round-the-clock house arrest with the obligation to wear an electronic bracelet,» the statement said.
The context of the case
Gennadiy Trukhanov is involved in a number of criminal proceedings related to embezzlement of city budget funds and abuse of office.
In particular, we are talking about the case of regarding the acquisition of the building of the former Krayan plant« at an inflated price, which caused the city to suffer significant losses.
In May 2023, the High Anti-Corruption Court found him guilty, but the decision was appealed.
Reaction of the parties
Trukhanov's defence insists that the suspicion is «politically motivated», while prosecutors claim availability of sufficient evidence regarding the abuses of the former mayor.
