Back in July, President Trump said that the new building would «be the most beautiful hall in the world» and would be built next to the main building of the White House, «with respect for historical architecture».

«It will not interfere with the existing building. It will not touch it. It will be next to it, in full respect of the architecture that I adore.
It's my favourite place. I love it,» Trump said during a speech in July.

According to the project, the new ballroom will have an area of about 8,300 square metres and will be able to accommodate up to 2,000 guests during official receptions and state events.


Reaction in the US

The construction caused a mixed reaction. Some architects and historians emphasise that East Wing is a historical part of the complex, built in 1942 during the Roosevelt presidency.
The opposition in Congress called for temporarily suspend the project, to assess its impact on historical heritage.

At the same time, representatives of the administration assure that the new building will not compromise the integrity of the White House, and funding is provided mainly by through private contributions.


Architectural concept

According to the information AP News, the completion will be made in the style of neoclassical modernism with white marble, large windows and a domed roof.
According to the preliminary plan, the project will be called Trump Ballroom Pavilion, and completion of the work is expected by 2027.
