Scale of drone attacks on Ukraine
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky reported that in September alone, Russian troops carried out almost 6,900 drone attacks on the territory of Ukraine.
Among them are more than 3,600 strikes were carried out by Shahed kamikaze drones, Russia receives from Iran.
Context.
According to Syrsky, such intensive use of drones indicates the Kremlin's attempt to deplete Ukraine's air defence system and inflict maximum damage to critical infrastructure.
Nevertheless, a significant number of drones were shot down by air defence forces, and international partners continue to reinforce Ukraine with modern air defence equipment.
What's next
The Ukrainian military expects a further increase in the intensity of attacks using UAVs in autumn and winter. This is due to Russia's preparations for a new campaign of attacks on energy facilities.
Syrskyi stressed that Ukraine is working to strengthen its defences, including through new deliveries of air defence systems from partners.
