Kyiv calls on Beijing to step up efforts for peace
Ukraine expects China to play a more active role in efforts to end the war with Russia. This was stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
According to the diplomats, Kyiv counts on Beijing's support in international initiatives that should bring a just and sustainable peace closer.
China and peace processes
China has repeatedly stressed its readiness to mediate between Ukraine and Russia, but concrete steps remain limited.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine believes that Beijing's neutral position does not correspond to the scale of the war and its global consequences.
Diplomats emphasise: China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has the resources and influence to join the pressure on Russia to stop its aggression.
Why it matters
China remains one of Russia's key partners in global politics and economy.
His position may affect the balance of power in international negotiations.
Ukraine wants Beijing to play not only the role of an observer, but also to become an active participant in peacekeeping initiatives.
Context.

complete withdrawal of Russian troops;
restoration of territorial integrity;
security guarantees;
compensation for damages.
