Ukraine launches eCheck, a national digital cheque that will be stored online

Ukraine launches eCheck - a national digital receipt that will be stored online and will not be lost. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

What is eCheck

eCheck is an electronic payment document that will automatically appear in the customer's banking application after a card payment in a store or online. You don't need to keep this receipt physically - it will always be available for product returns, exchanges, or warranty service.

How it will work

Paper cheques will not be cancelled. The buyer will be able to choose the format of receipt: paper, electronic or both. The service is voluntary and does not change the current rules for the use of cash registers and cash registers.

Context.

The Ministry of Economy emphasises that the system has benefits for all parties:

  • for consumers - convenient access to receipts at any time;

  • for business - less paper and operational costs;

  • for the state - more transparency without increased control.

The eCheck is scheduled to be launched in 2026 as an experiment. The first stage will include a pilot project involving selected banks and large retailers.
