
New law aims to eliminate injustice and abuse
Ukraine is preparing a new housing policy, which will ensure that Every orphaned child will receive his or her own housing upon reaching the age of 18.
This was reported by the head of the party «Servant of the People» and chairman of the parliamentary committee on regional development Elena Shulyak in an interview UNN.
«We want to close the gaps that allowed those who were not eligible to receive apartments. From now on, every orphan of legal age will have guaranteed housing from the state», - said Shulyak.
Fair access to public housing stock
The draft law provides for creation of a single electronic register to register orphans and control the distribution of housing.
It has Put an end to corruption schemes, The situation was not only a matter of the state apartments being given to outsiders, but also of real orphans being left without assistance.
According to Shulyak, the new system will provide transparency, targeting and financial stability programmes through co-financing from the state and local budgets.
Social responsibility of the state
The initiative is part of a broader social policy reform aimed at Protection of the most vulnerable categories of citizens.
«The state assumes a moral and financial obligation - no child should enter adulthood without a roof over his or her head», - said Shulyak.
According to the Ministry of Social Policy, Ukraine currently has more than 25 thousand orphans are waiting to be provided with housing. The new law aims to to solve this problem completely within a few years.
