Ukraine, US agree on military document to support Ukrainian Armed Forces - Gnatov

Between Ukraine and United States of America A military document consisting of four key sections and annexes has been agreed. This was announced by Lieutenant General Gnatov, commenting on the results of bilateral work at the level of the General Staffs.

According to him, the document defines the format and mechanisms for further support The Armed Forces of Ukraine, including logistical support, restoration and modernisation of the Ukrainian army.

What the document provides for

According to Hnatov, all the chapters deal with practical aspects of cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, in particular:

• the procedure for military and defence support to Ukraine;

• ensuring and restoring the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;

• modernisation of weapons and military infrastructure;

• mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of agreements;

• algorithms for responding to breaches of contract by either party.

International context

A separate section of the document is devoted to the activities of the so-called «Coalitions of the willing», including possible international contingents and coordination with partners.

Hnatov stressed that similar work is underway with other partner states of Ukraine, which indicates the formation of a broader system of security guarantees for the state.
